Description of adverse reaction: Information has been received from a lawyer regarding a case in litigation concerning a male patient of unknown age. No information was received regarding the patient's past medical history, concurrent conditions, or concomitant medication. On or about 17-JUN-2016, the patient was inoculated with ZOSTAVAX (lot number, dosage and route of administration not provided) at his primary care physician, for routine health maintenance and for the prevention of shingles. The ZOSTAVAX did not prevent shingles, but rather caused the patient to contract a persistent strain of herpes zoster. In approximately 2016 [reported as "shortly after" receiving ZOSTAVAX], the patient began to experience trouble in raising his right foot, and pain traveling up his right leg emanating from his right foot. The patient presented to a neurologist and was diagnosed with multifocal motor neuropathy.
